The city of Rio de Janeiro is preparing for a major repositioning in the world of international motorsport with the development of the Autódromo Parque de Guaratiba. Planned as a modern hub for racing, the venue is being designed to meet the demands of global competitions while offering fans a world-class experience.
At the center of this project is a 4.71 km track that allows 11 different configurations, making it suitable for a wide variety of racing series. Early simulations using Formula 1 cars have shown an estimated average speed of 241 km/h, positioning the circuit among the fastest and most challenging in the region.
The development brings together three industry leaders. Populous, recognized worldwide for sports and entertainment venue design, is overseeing the architectural vision. WSP, with expertise in infrastructure and environmental solutions, contributes to the project’s technical foundation. Finally, Driven International Ltd, a specialist in motorsport circuit design, ensures the track meets the highest competitive standards.
Once complete, the Brazilian racing venue is expected to elevate Rio de Janeiro’s profile on the international motorsport map and attract premier events, potentially including future Formula 1 races.
