F1-Grade Race Track Launching Near Singapore in Johor Bahru

In late 2025, a major development in Southeast Asia's motorsport scene will take shape just 30 minutes from the Tuas checkpoint. Sunway Circuit Iskandar Puteri, a purpose-built racing facility in Johor Bahru, is on track to become Malaysia’s next international motorsport landmark.

This isn't a temporary pop-up like Singapore’s Marina Bay Street Circuit. Designed by Hermann Tilke—the architect behind some of Formula 1’s most iconic venues—this 4.5km permanent track meets both FIA Grade 1 and FIM Grade A standards. It positions itself to host premier racing events such as Formula 1 and MotoGP. Complementing the main circuit are facilities including a professional karting track, off-road zones, and advanced driving courses, setting a new benchmark for racing infrastructure in the region.

When completed, Sunway Circuit Iskandar Puteri will redefine what Malaysia offers motorsport fans and professionals. Located strategically in Johor Bahru, the facility is designed to attract global attention. The 4.5-kilometre track—engineered to meet the stringent FIA and FIM standards—makes it eligible to host the world’s fastest cars and bikes, including the prestigious Formula 1 and MotoGP races. This elevates the country's presence in the competitive world of international motorsport.

But what makes the Sunway Circuit stand out is its permanence. Unlike the temporary street layout of Marina Bay in Singapore, this is a fixed structure—engineered for long-term use. Every detail, from its international-grade pit buildings and media centers to VIP hospitality suites, reflects the ambition to turn Johor into a motorsport hub for Southeast Asia.

Sunway Circuit Iskandar Puteri isn’t just a track; it's a full-scale motorsport ecosystem. A dedicated 1.5-kilometre karting circuit adds a professional-grade platform for junior racing talent and recreational enthusiasts alike. A purpose-built hill climb course and 4×4 off-road adventure zone expand the facility’s versatility, catering to various motorsport disciplines beyond conventional racing.

For those focused on safety and skill, the circuit will offer an advanced driving course tailored for high-performance driver training and road safety education. These features signal that the Sunway Circuit is not only about elite-level competition but also about fostering education, development, and engagement with the broader automotive community.

With the main circuit already constructed and full completion scheduled by the end of 2025, Sunway Circuit Iskandar Puteri is set to elevate Johor’s status on the global motorsport map. Its permanent infrastructure, world-class specifications, and multipurpose design make it a strong contender for hosting top-tier events like Formula 1 and MotoGP.

Located just a short drive from Singapore, this F1-grade race track in Johor will serve as both a competitive venue and a center for automotive training and tourism. As the region’s newest motorsport attraction, it’s positioned to redefine racing in Malaysia and drive regional interest in high-performance motorsport experiences.
