Jakarta will host the first-ever FIA Rallycross World Cup on 5–6 December 2026,
marking the discipline’s debut in Southeast Asia and a significant milestone in the
global expansion of rallycross.
The announcement was made by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile
(FIA), the world governing body for motorsport. The event will take place at the
Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit in the Ancol district of North Jakarta, which will be
transformed into a mixed-surface rallycross track specifically designed for the
competition.
The event is being delivered in partnership with Indonesian sports and entertainment
company SARGA.CO, part of the SARGA Group, which has signed an exclusive
agreement with the FIA to host the competition.
The FIA said bringing rallycross to Indonesia represents a major step in expanding
the sport beyond its traditional European base. The event will feature top-level
drivers competing in Euro RX1 internal combustion-powered cars, delivering the
wheel-to-wheel racing and high-intensity format that rallycross is known for.
The one-off global event is designed to attract leading drivers from around the world
and reach new audiences in emerging motorsport markets.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said the new competition would provide
fans with a fresh way to experience rallycross on the global stage.
“Across our FIA Championships, World Cup events have proven their ability to
deliver accessible, standalone competitions with strong global appeal,” Ben Sulayem
said. “While rallycross has its historic heartland in Europe, this debut competition in
Indonesia opens the door to greater participation and strengthens the discipline’s
global footprint.”
The Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit will undergo a full rallycross conversion
ahead of the event, incorporating a mixed-surface layout combining asphalt and dirt.
The redesign aims to produce the tight, door-to-door racing that defines the sport.
Indonesia has been identified as a promising new destination for motorsport due to
its large fan base, growing racing culture and expanding sports entertainment sector.
Organisers say fan engagement will be central to the event. While thousands are
expected to attend in Jakarta, international audiences will also be able to watch the
competition live and free on the official FIA Rallycross YouTube channel.
Aryo PS Djojohadikusumo, founder of SARGA Group, said the event will help
strengthen Indonesia’s presence on the global motorsport calendar.
“We are very excited to partner with the FIA and bring a world-class motorsport
event to Indonesia, supporting the continued growth of the national motorsport
industry,” he said.
