MotoGP has officially confirmed that the Australian Grand Prix will relocate to the Adelaide
Street Circuit starting from November 2027. This marks a historic milestone for the
championship in that it will be the first MotoGP race held on a true city-centre street circuit in
the sport’s modern era.
Under a six-year agreement between the MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group, the Government of South Australia, and the City of Adelaide, the event will run through to 2032, with the option for future extension.
The new Adelaide Street Circuit will wind through the heart of the city, using a layout inspired by the famous track that hosted the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix from 1985 to 1995. The fully redesigned course will stretch around 4.195 km and include 18 corners, allowing MotoGP bikes to exceed 340 km/h on the straights.
For nearly three decades, the Australian Grand Prix has taken place at Phillip Island, a scenic
seaside circuit in Victoria. However, after lengthy negotiations, the event’s contract at Phillip
Island will conclude after the 2026 race, with Adelaide becoming the new host city for the
MotoGP from 2027.
The move is expected to deliver significant economic benefits for South Australia’s tourism and hospitality industries, while also bringing a distinct festival-style atmosphere to the Grand Prix weekend.
