When Formula 1 announced its 2026 calendar, many wondered if Las Vegas would keep its spot. The uncertainty ended quickly as the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) confirmed a sponsorship extension, securing the Grand Prix until at least 2027.
The Las Vegas race only debuted in 2023 but has already become one of the most anticipated events on the F1 calendar. Backed by Liberty Media’s massive investment and a city eager to showcase itself on a global stage, the Grand Prix quickly established a reputation for spectacle and scale. Now, with renewed financial support, its presence is guaranteed for at least two more seasons.
The original contract between Formula 1 and Las Vegas was set to expire after the 2025 race. With the extension, the LVCVA has increased its annual sponsorship commitment from US$6.5 million to US$10 million. The authority voted unanimously to approve the higher funding, which will support the next two editions of the event.
The announcement aligns with Formula 1’s ambition to maintain Las Vegas as a cornerstone of its U.S. expansion. The debut race in 2023 required Liberty Media to invest more than US$500 million in infrastructure and promotion, signaling a long-term vision. While the current extension covers only two additional years, LVCVA leadership emphasized that this does not reflect limits on the event’s future.
Steve Hill, president and chief executive of the LVCVA, explained that incremental extensions provide flexibility while ensuring stability. Formula 1 executives also expressed satisfaction, with Las Vegas Grand Prix CEO Emily Prazer welcoming the renewed partnership. Both parties signaled confidence that the event will remain a fixture beyond 2027.
The extension of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix underscores the city’s growing role in the sport’s U.S. strategy. With the LVCVA committing US$10 million annually, the event is positioned to remain a highlight of the racing calendar. Both Formula 1 and Las Vegas leaders view the deal as more than a short-term agreement, pointing instead to a sustainable future for the race.
As the spectacle continues to attract global attention, the Las Vegas Grand Prix is set to strengthen its place as one of the sport’s signature events. Fans and stakeholders alike can expect the race to thrive well beyond its confirmed 2027 slot.
