Formula 1 has confirmed that the Monaco Grand Prix will remain a fixture on its calendar until 2035, securing the long-term future of the sport’s most recognizable street race.

Set against the backdrop of Monte Carlo’s harbour and tight streets, the Monaco Grand Prix has long been seen as the jewel in F1’s crown. However, uncertainty over its place in the sport had lingered in recent years, with debates about track design and race spectacle often dominating discussions.

A previous agreement signed in 2022 guaranteed Monaco’s slot until 2031, but Friday’s announcement extends that commitment by another four years. This new deal places Monaco among the longest-running contracts in Formula 1, alongside venues such as Madrid, Bahrain, Australia, Miami, and Austria, which all hold agreements stretching into the late 2030s and beyond.

While the race retains its prestige, calls for changes remain. The 2024 edition introduced a two-stop pit rule aimed at adding unpredictability, yet fans and drivers criticized the outcome. With modern F1 cars continuing to outgrow the Principality’s narrow layout, organizers face ongoing pressure to adapt while preserving the tradition that makes Monaco unique.
